FAST-DOT has realised the first ever watt-level femtosecond vertical-external cavity surface emitting-laser (VECSEL) emitting at 784 fs, 1.05 W, 960 nm being achieved from a structure using quantum dots in both VECSEL end Semiconductor Salurable Absorber Mirrors (SESAM).

The consortium has also successfully modelocked a VECSEL In the 1.2-1,3 um spectral regime.
