Dr Maria Ana Cataluna of Dundee University opened the 2010 Cafe Science event program with a talk on the use of ultrafast lasers for biomedical imaging and minimally-invasive treatments.   • LaserFest

LaserFest is a yearlong celebration in 2010 commemorating the 50th anniversary of the invention of the laser. The goal of LaserFest is to demonstrate the history and importance of lasers through a series of events, outreach activities and education programs. These efforts bring the story of lasers to the general public and key communities in honour of the accomplishments of laser scientists, engineers, inventors and entrepreneurs.
